ATA 2018 Is Now Accepting Presentation Proposals

The 24th annual conference and trade show of the American Telemedicine Association will be held from April 29 through May 1, 2018.[1] ATA 2018 will feature a number of presentations by various speakers from fields related to telehealth and telemedicine. One of those speakers could be you.ATA is currently accepting proposals from people who are interesting in sharing their ideas and discoveries with those in attendance. To be considered, potential presenters must submit an ATA study proposal by early September 2017.

Submission Guidelines

ATA 2018 will provide a platform from which to present your work to leaders from throughout the telehealth industry. This includes representatives from hospitals, clinics and universities as well as people who work in research and product development related to telemedicine and telehealth.[2]To be considered to present an ATA study, you must have evidence-based work to share with the attendees. Presentations should be keenly relevant to individuals in these fields. For example, it should enhance their professional development, provide new ways of integrating telehealth into the larger health care field or provide specific case studies of how the material makes a difference.[3]Furthermore, your content should engage the audience and help them learn new concepts. It should call on participants to draw on past knowledge while also encouraging the formulation of new ideas.Some ATA 2018 attendees will be quite experienced in the telehealth field, but others will have less of a foundation in this realm before attending the conference. Submissions can be intended for listeners at basic or advanced competency levels. When submitting your proposal, you should indicate what level of learner would most benefit from your presentation. You should also designate the ideal learners for your program, such as nurses, administrators, students or government workers.

Presentation Formats

Although traditional speaker-led seminars are one component of ATA 2018, presentations are not limited to this format. In addition to offering 60-minute seminars, presenters are also encouraged to develop programs that work with other formats. For example, ATA 2018 will involve hands-on sessions. These can be workshops or Learning Labs. Workshops are longer sessions up to six hours in length that encourage deep learning in a small-group setting. Learning Labs are shorter and devote much of the session time to demonstrations and hands-on practice of the concepts presented.Another interactive element of ATA is the Round Table Discussion. These short sessions are presented to small groups. Just over half of the time is devoted to the speaker's talk; the remaining time is used for questions and discussions among participants.Finally, ePoster Presentations and Ignite Sessions give presenters formats in which to quickly communicate with many attendees about research findings or future projects.

Dates and Deadlines

Proposals must be turned in no later than September 8, 2017. The final deadline is 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on that day.Presentation slots are limited. In the weeks following the deadline, the conference's Education Committee will make their decisions. In early November, those who submitted proposals will be notified as to whether they have been accepted into ATA 2018.Those who are accepted must commit to participating in training calls or webinars between January and March 2018.
